Another Comforter

Jesus promised to send another comforter. The question is: Did Jesus send another comforter when he breathed on his disciples or at Pentecost?

[12]Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me....

[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever...

Jesus said I will pray the FATHER will send another Comforter.

[26]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jesus said the FATHER will send the Holy Ghost.

[26]But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me...

Jesus said when the Comforter is come... from the FATHER.

[7]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Jesus made a promise to send the Comforter AFTER he goes away.

[22]And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost...

Did the disciples get the Holy Ghost at this time? Yes.

Was the Holy Ghost from the Father? No.

Had Jesus gone away, yet? No.

John 20:22 is not the fulfillment of the promises made in John 14:26, John 15:26 and John 16:7 because Jesus said It is expedient for you that I go away... Jesus had to go away THEN the Father would send the Holy Ghost.

John 20:22 is when Jesus gave the Holy Ghost to the disciples on Resurrection day while they were hiding behind closed doors. Jesus raptured and went away 40 days later. God sent the Comforter 10 days later at the Feast of Pentecost.

Acts 2:1-4 is when the promise of John 14:26, John 15:26 and John 16:7 was kept... not John 20:22.

I would admonish people to preach the promise. When you say the Comforter was given to the disciples at the Resurrection then you are denying the promise. The promise was Jesus would leave and the Father would send the Comforter.

God's Feasts are God's appointed times when he keeps certain promises. Pentecost was the feast where the promise of the Comforter was fulfilled... not when Jesus breathed on the disciples.

The last 3 feasts will fulfill the promise of the Second Coming.
