God Hath Not Appointed us to Wrath
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to Wrath...
Every good Southern Baptist knows that we are not appointed to Wrath. And then that some how became... you are not appointed to Tribulation, either.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have Tribulation...
Southern Baptists have never known what the difference is between Tribulation and Wrath. And, even then the line gets blurred so that when they talk about Tribulation it some how turns into Wrath and well, you know, we aren't appointed to Wrath.
And don't try to differentiate between Tribulation and GREAT Tribulation. To them they're all the same. Tribulation is Great Tribulation is Wrath AND... we're not appointed unto Wrath. Right?
Wrong. There is a difference between the three.
Tribulation includes wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences & earthquakes.
The Tribulation is the first half (3.5 years) of Daniel's 70th week (a 7 year period). The problem is... we've had tribulation for years. Daniel was saying these Tribulations will increase when the Seven seals are opened.
The problem is Americans haven't suffered much like other nations have. That is why we can dismiss things so easily. Can you imagine living in the Sudan or Ukraine and knowing wars is a sign of the Tribulation and thinking... this must be the Tribulation!
Matthew also said Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you.
They shall kill you and you will be hated of all nations for my name's sake. Whoa. Wait a minute. Are there people being killed for the name of Christ? Yes... just not in the United States. There are people in countries like Burma, China, India, Iran and Syria that are living that part out right now. Do you wonder if they're thinking this must be the Tribulation!?
Matthew 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
I could say this is present in the U.S. right now... ESPECIALLY, the verse where he says...
Matthew 24:11 MANY false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive MANY.
That is definitely the U.S. today. Think of all of the preachers of Calvinism deceiving many.
There is coming a time when tribulation starts getting so bad that the antichrist will make a covenant with many. That is when the Seals start being opened and tribulation will increase even more for 3.5 years. Then, when the antichrist goes into the temple and proclaims himself to be God all hell is going to break loose. THAT will be the start of 75 days of GREAT Tribulation.
Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 for then shall be GREAT Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
The Great Tribulation will only last 75 days. Why?
Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
God shortens the Great Tribulation otherwise no flesh would be saved. I'm thinking he means no believers would be left alive unless the Great Tribulation were cut short.
The Great Tribulation is when the antichrist goes after believers specifically and tries to kill every last one of them. There will still be a lot of unbelievers left on earth after the Great Tribulation who will experience God's Wrath.
God will pour out His wrath during the 7 Trumpet and Vial judgments. God's Wrath will be unlike anything the world has ever seen before. God's Wrath will be nothing like the Tribulation or the Great Tribulation.
God's Wrath includes Hail and Fire, Seas and Rivers turning to blood, and a scorching Sun. Talk about Climate Change!
Believers are not appointed unto Wrath. However, believers will go through Tribulation and some will go through Great Tribulation.
The unbelievers are the only ones who will experience God's Wrath. It will be a rough 7 years for unbelievers. It will be hell on earth and then after that it will literally be hell.
