When you pay attention to what the bible says you get slapped in the face. Read the bible, pay attention and get slapped in the face. I have missed one little word for 60 years... TILL now.
Matthew 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, TILL they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, TILL they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, TILL they see the kingdom of God.
"There be" is future tense... NOT present tense. Jesus did not say "There are". There will be people standing where Jesus said these words at the time he comes back who will taste death. Those who are alive and remain WILL taste death, too. There is NO escaping death. that is what these three verses say.
We have been taught there are some who will not taste death if they survive to the Rapture. Wrong! There are some who will not TASTE death UNTIL Jesus returns. Go back and read it again.
Preposterous you say? No. The first death is the body. At the resurrection those who are alive and remain will TASTE death. Their old corrupt body will die and they will be given a new incorruptible body. In order to get your new body your old body HAS TO DIE. Every BODY WILL TASTE DEATH... at least once.
1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Matthew says "till they see the Son of man COMING IN HIS KINGDOM". Mark and Luke say "till they (have seen/see) the KINGDOM OF GOD".
John the Baptist and Jesus both said... REPENT! For the KINGDOM of GOD is at hand! Repent of your sins? No. Repent of your false belief that works save you. Repent of your false religion and believe the Messiah, who is the Kingdom of God, who comes to take away the sins of the world.
Matthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judæa, 2 and saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The Kingdom of God came to earth as a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. The Kingdom of God will RETURN a SECOND time on a WHITE HORSE.
Read those first three verses over and over again until you understand what TILL means. They are saying some will not taste death TILL Jesus returns. Then, when Jesus returns... guess what! They will get to taste death, too!
Mind blown.
Everybody, including Jesus, has died or will die once. That's a given. That's what the scripture says. Unbelievers will die twice. Jesus died twice. When we think of Jesus dying we only think of his physical death. But, the bible doesn't say he gave up his body. The bible says he gave up his ghost. He gave up his spirit. HIS SPIRIT DIED, too. Jesus died the first death physically and died the second death spiritually... in HELL.
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for EVERY man.
Every man will taste the first death. Not every man will taste the second death. Jesus tasted the SECOND death for every man!
Revelation 2:11 ... He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power...
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Jesus died the second death. The only one who could raise Jesus from the dead was God.
Acts 2:24 whom God hath raised up...
Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up...
Acts 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead...
Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus...
Acts 4:10 be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead...
Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus...
Acts 13:30 But God raised him from the dead... 33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Jesus is the ONLY begotten. Jesus is the ONLY one who will ever be raised up from the dead... the second death.
We only know about the first death, the body. Once people die we think they will never feel pain anymore. However, once the unbeliever has died they will be DEAD and stand before God at the judgment.
Get that? The unbeliever will BE DEAD and STAND at the judgment.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Notice, Revelation 20:12 doesn't say the unbelievers are judged. It doesn't say those who are alive and unbelievers. No... the DEAD will STAND, the DEAD will be judged.
Zombies? No. Nobody has experienced the second death... not yet... We don't know what it is like to be dead TWICE... only Jesus has experienced the second death. And, he is the only begotten... the only one who will ever be raised from the second death.
Jesus died twice. Every believer will die once. Every unbeliever will die twice and be dead for eternity.
Only Jesus is, and will be, the only 'begotten from the dead'.
Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
One more thing... Matthew 16:28 means you can take Hebrews 9:27 LITERALLY...
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment...
That does not mean all men EXCEPT the lucky one's at the rapture. No. It literally means ALL MEN... have an appointment to die.... most believers before the rapture and some believers AT the rapture.
Think of all of the dead corruptible bodies that believers are going to leave behind when they receive their new incorruptible body. There won't be many because the bible says FEW there be that find it.
