Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy WORKS, that thou hast a NAME that thou livest, and art DEAD.
A good example of the church in Sardis is First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. They have a name they 'live' and are 'dead'. They don't even know they are dead.
And yet... Revelation 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Heath Lambert preaches heresy every Sunday. He preaches it's about your sins, about your sins, about your sins so Repent of your Sins (turn from your sins, have good works) and trust in Jesus. Jesus never told anybody that to be saved you had to repent of your sins AND trust in Jesus. Yet, that is the invitation offered at the end of each service.
When Homer G Lindsay, Jr was pastor the invitation was simply "Come down and make your public profession of faith". No mention of repenting of your sins... at least until you went to the counseling area and some lying deceitful counselor said you had to repent of your sins if you wanted to be saved. And, no mention of having good works as proof of your salvation.
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
I always thought this was an odd thing to say at this point of the conversation. But, if you go look at Numbers 21:5-9 you can see why Jesus said that. Anytime something in the New Testament refers to something in the Old Testament it's a good idea to go look up that story.
This is referring to the time the Children of Israel sinned against God. What was their sin you might ask? Did they commit adultery, fornication, worship idols? No. They murmured against God.
That's "all"? They Murmured?
Yes. It wasn't pretty. God fed them manna. They became discouraged. They started saying how they didn't have ANY bread or water. Then, they said the wrong thing. They said and our soul loatheth this light bread.
Uh. Wait a minute. They had no bread and then they loathed this 'light' bread? Yeah, God got mad when they said that. He sent fiery serpents into the camp and much people died.
The people did the first thing you have to do in order to be saved. They acknowledged their sin. To be saved you have to acknowledge you are a sinner bound for hell. You can't be saved FROM something if you don't believe there is something you need to be saved FROM.
They went to Moses and asked Moses to speak to God on their behalf. Moses spoke to God and God told them to repent of their sins.
No he did not. God did not tell them to repent of their sins. He didn't tell them to kill the fatted calf or to sprinkle the blood on the mercy seat. He did not tell them to kill a ram or a goat or two turtle doves. He did not tell them to apologize, say you're sorry, promise to stop sinning, try to sin less. He told them to do something much worse.
God told them to make a serpent of brass... an idol, something God detests even more than murmuring. And He said to put that idol on a pole and when someone looked at the serpent on the pole then they would be saved. They would live. That was their salvation. They knew they were sinners and needed to be saved. They believed what God said and then they were saved. That's all salvation is. Anybody who says different is a liar. Heath Lambert is a liar. He is a lying Calvinist.
There used to be men of God at First Baptist Church who understood Numbers 21 and John 3:14. When they started the television ministry back in the 80's they created a Florida corporation called Look and Live. SOMEBODY at FBC JAX knew what you needed to do to be saved... just Look and Live... not repent of your sins AND trust in Jesus. FBC JAX killed that corporation over 10 years ago. Heath Lambert doesn't understand Look and Live.
One little word is damning thousands of people all around the world... AND.
Salvation is just Look... Believe God. Salvation is Believe what God said... Look at the serpent on the pole... Look at the one who died on the cross for your sins. He was nailed to that pole for you and your sins... not His sins. He didn't have any. He bore the sins of the world. He became sin for us. He went to hell and died the second death. Only God could raise him from the dead. And he did.
John 3:14 should read like this:
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have eternal life: even so must the Son of man be lifted up, 15 that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but, have eternal life.
FBC JAX is damned by a lying Calvinist heretic who is preaching another gospel that is not the gospel.
Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Just like the Church in Sardis who had a name they lived and were dead... FBC JAX died years ago.
